TEAL TUNIC

This post is my first outfit post. I don't know how I feel about it. I have taken pictures with a DSLR and with camera on a phone. The DSLR is not necessary, unless you are seriously interested in photography. These photos were taken by my boyfriend while we were goofing around. I think the pictures are pretty good.

Let's see, I am wearing all second-hand. I tend to appreciate my second-hand clothing more than anything I buy new. I like knowing that someone lived in the things that I wear. I like imagining the secret narratives they hold.

PULLOVER ANORAK FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER

I like to get up early to go on walks with my mother. If it is drizzling I take a pullover anorak. You know, the kind that collapses in on itself and turns into a fanny pack. Again this is the sort of anti-fashion thing that I love.

When I was living in Italy, I saw a lot of the Napapijri jackets. While in Florence, I would visit this amazing store that specialized in sailing. The store was filled with compasses and maps, the sorts of things only Indiana Jones would need, and they had a selection of Napapijri Rainforest jackets. I wanted to buy one while I was in Italy, but I was on a student's budget.

I do, however, own a couple of these jackets. I have one in olive green with perennial bicycle gear grease stains; it reminds me of military surplus. I have another in blue, which, as mentioned before, collapses in on itself and turns into a fanny pack. The blue one is an authentic trademarked Windbreaker. It belonged to my mother. In fact, my fathers owns the same one; they used to wear matching clothing.

POINT OF FASHION: THE 70S

WARNING: THIS POST IS LONG AND GRATUITOUS. ENJOY!
Diane Keaton being Diane Keaton

Diana Ross dancing in Studio 54

 Celia Birtwell Sketch
Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell Dress

Missoni Wrap Dress and Ossie Clark Wrap Dress

Purple Halston Dress

Diane Keaton in Annie Hall, Diana Ross dancing in Stuio 54, Halston, Jumpsuits, DIY Levis, bell bottoms, wooden clogs, wrap dresses, the most flattering silhouettes, Afros, studded leather, etc. The 70s was awesome, clothing, fashion and style wise, at least. I could list all of the elements of fashion and style that I love about the 70s, but I think you get it.

I always look to the 70s when buying and collecting vintage. I prefer 70s fashions because my mother and father always gave me their old clothes and their clothes from the 70s were the only clothes that fit me.  When looking for vintage clothing from the 70s, I try not to buy anything too cheap, trendy or sad. I always look for denim, leather, t shirts and wrap dresses. I am looking forward to sharing my favorite 70s vintage finds.

A LOOK AT RONALDUS SHAMASK

MW Moss
Shamask Original

Spring 2012 RTW
Spring 2012 RTW

Ronaldus Shamask is new to me. Last week, while I was click through links (as one does), I found myself nearly salivating at dress of his design. I thought to myself, "How did I not know this existed." Astonished, I continued my search. I like that Shamask thinks of himself as a multidisciplinary designer, not just a fashion designer. Although, it is hard to find a good archive of his work, I managed to find a few great things.
